Overview

About DKY

Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana is a central government scheme that funds skill training for Persons with Disabilities, referred to in government usage as Divyangjan. It was announced in the Union Budget 2026-27 and comes under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) as the department responsible for running it.

The benefit is in kind rather than a cash payment: the scheme pays for the training itself. Its purpose is to open dignified livelihood options for people with disabilities by teaching job-oriented skills that match what employers are hiring for. Courses are designed around specific disability groups instead of a single shared curriculum, so the training fits each candidate's functional needs.

Training covers sectors the scheme has prioritised, including information technology, animation, visual effects, gaming and comics, hospitality, and food and beverage service. Registration for training is to be integrated with the DEPwD's PM-DAKSH portal.

The scheme is meant for individual Persons with Disabilities in India who want employable skills and a route into work. Confirm the current eligibility and application process before you apply.
