Overview

About DFBSSCSTS

Distribution of Free Books and Stationery to SC/ST Students is a welfare scheme run by the Higher Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. It provides free textbooks and stationery to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students who are enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the state's government colleges.

The support is given in kind rather than as cash. Each year an eligible student receives books worth Rs. 1,500 and stationery worth Rs. 500. After admission, the principal or head of the college purchases the books from the Hindi Granth Academy and distributes them, and the stationery is provided by the college. The aim is to keep the cost of study material from being a barrier for SC and ST students working towards a degree.

Eligibility is limited to regular students who are natives of Madhya Pradesh, belong to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category, and are studying an undergraduate or postgraduate course at a government college in the state. There is no online application; a student applies by approaching the head or principal of their college, along with identity proof, a caste certificate and a Madhya Pradesh domicile certificate.
