Overview

About DIIS

The Digital India Internship Scheme places students in short-term internships with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). MeitY runs the scheme and implements it through the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), with interns hosted at the ministry's office in New Delhi.

Each intern works on live projects tied to the Digital India programme under a supervisor or mentor within the ministry. An internship runs for a minimum of two months and can be extended up to three, depending on the candidate's performance and the ministry's requirements. Interns receive a monthly stipend, paid on satisfactory performance certified by their supervisor.

The scheme is open to Indian students enrolled at recognised universities in the country, drawn mainly from technology and computing courses such as B.E/B.Tech, M.E/M.Tech, M.Sc, MCA and the DOEACC 'B' level, with narrower openings for law students in public policy work and for economics or statistics students in the digital economy track. Students already in their final semester are not eligible.
