Overview

About DPMSC

The Devnarayan Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is a Rajasthan state scholarship run by the state's Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. It supports school students from the Very Backward Classes at the pre-matriculation stage, that is the years of schooling up to Class 10.

The benefit is paid in cash. The scheme's stated aim is the educational upliftment of Very Backward Class students, easing the money pressure that can push families to pull a child out of school before matriculation.

It is meant for students who are permanent residents of Rajasthan and belong to the communities the state groups as Very Backward, a set that includes the Gujjar, Banjara, Raika-Rebari, Gadia-Lohar and Gadaria communities. Eligibility is means-tested and turns on proof of caste category, and a student already drawing another government scholarship is not covered.
