Award of Scholarships to Outstanding NCC Cadets of the UT of Puducherry(ASONCUTP)
Overview
About ASONCUTP
The Award of Scholarships to Outstanding NCC Cadets of the UT of Puducherry is run by the School Education Department, Government of Puducherry. It is a state-level scheme for cadets of the National Cadet Corps who are drawn from the Union Territory, and it covers both the Senior Division (up to graduation) and the Junior Division (up to the higher secondary stage), with the senior and junior wings open to boys and girls.
The purpose is to recognise cadets who have kept a strong record of NCC service and to back that recognition with a cash scholarship. The benefit reaches the cadet as a monthly stipend, set at separate rates for the senior and junior wings. The department allots 34 fresh scholarships each year. An award is tenable for one year and does not renew on its own, though a cadet who stays eligible may apply again in a later year.
The scheme is meant for cadets who are Indian citizens and residents of the Union Territory of Puducherry, and who have maintained their attendance at parades and camps without any disciplinary discharge. Applications move through the Officer Commanding of the cadet's NCC unit to the Group Commander at the NCC Group Headquarters in Puducherry. A cadet holding this award may not draw another regular scholarship or stipend at the same time, though fee concessions are allowed.
