Scholarship
Award of Scholarship to the Cadets Belonging to UT of Puducherry and Studying in Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun(ASCBUTPSRIMCD)
Overview
About ASCBUTPSRIMCD
The School Education Department of the Government of Puducherry runs this scholarship for cadets from the Union Territory who have secured admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. It is a state-level scheme aimed at cadets from economically weaker households, so that a place at RIMC does not turn on what a family can afford.
RIMC is a residential military school in the Doon Valley at Dehradun, established in 1922 and originally named the Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College. It takes cadets through their school years, from class 8 to class 12, and feeds into the National Defence Academy and, in turn, the Indian Armed Forces.
The benefit is a cash award paid once a year for each cadet. Puducherry has operated the scheme since 2004-05, and the money is sent straight into the cadet's Aadhaar-linked bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer, rather than routed through the college.
It is open to cadets who are Indian citizens, who belong to Puducherry by birth or by domicile, and who are studying at RIMC. A cadet applies with the certificate of admission issued by the college.
