Overview

About APSMMESSEBC

Assistance for Purchasing Study Materials for Medical and Engineering Students from Socially and Educationally Backward Classes is a Gujarat state scheme that helps students from socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC) meet the cost of the books, instruments and other study materials their course demands. It pays a one-time cash grant rather than a recurring stipend.

The Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat, runs the scheme and delivers it through its Director of Developing Castes Welfare. Students apply online through the state's e-Samaj Kalyan portal, and the scheme is also listed on the Union government's myScheme portal. The grant is paid during the first year of study, and the amount depends on the course a student is enrolled in.

Support is limited to SEBC students in Gujarat who are pursuing a medical or engineering programme, at either diploma or degree level. Income limits, caste-certificate rules and the documents required are set by the department, so a student should confirm them before applying.
