Overview

About ATUJTFL

AICTE- Technical University Joint Training Programs for Librarians is a training scheme run by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body under the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education. It funds and organises short residential training for librarians working in AICTE-approved technical institutions, delivered jointly by AICTE and the technical university those institutions are affiliated to.

The stated aim is to prepare librarians to work effectively in a knowledge society, and to help their universities offer user-centred library and information services that support teaching, learning and research. A program runs as a five-day residential course, and a technical university may hold one such program in a financial year. At least one session is set aside for training on moral values, ethics and behavioural sciences.

The benefit is financial: AICTE shares the cost of running each program with the host technical university, so the grant supports the institution rather than paying individual librarians. Any librarian deployed in an AICTE-approved institution is eligible to take part. Participants who pass a test held at the end of the course receive a certificate issued jointly by the university and AICTE.
