Scholarship
Urdu Scholarship- Rajasthan(USR)
Overview
About USR
The Urdu Scholarship is a state scheme of the Higher Education Department, Government of Rajasthan. It exists to encourage the study of Urdu, and it does this with a monthly cash payment to students who take the language as an optional subject at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The amount is fixed by level: ₹100 a month for undergraduate students and ₹150 a month for postgraduate students.
Eligibility depends on where you study and what you study. You must be a native of Rajasthan, be regularly enrolled at a recognised college or university in the state, and take Urdu as an optional subject, which is mandatory at both levels. At the graduation (undergraduate) level the scholarship is for girl students, who need at least 50% in the qualifying examination. At the postgraduate level it is open to both male and female students, who must have passed graduation or post-graduation in at least the second division.
You apply offline, through your college, which forwards the form to the department rather than through a separate online portal. The scholarship is not automatic from one year to the next: only students who were sanctioned it in the previous year can renew, and only if they again secure at least 50% marks with a second-division pass. A student already receiving another government scholarship is not eligible.
