Overview

About IFPTRAININGUJ

This is a state scheme from Gujarat, run under the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department. Fisheries programmes in the state are administered by the Commissioner of Fisheries, whose work covers inland fisheries and the encouragement of fish seed production and rearing. The scheme sits within that inland fisheries effort, directed at tribal areas.

Its purpose is twofold: to raise fish seed production and inland fisheries resources in tribal parts of the state, and to open up employment for people who take up inland fisheries as a livelihood. Tribal candidates are enrolled in fisheries training, and the support arrives as a cash scholarship paid to trainees over the course of that training.

The scheme is aimed at tribal individuals in Gujarat who sign up for the fisheries training it funds. The stipend amount, training duration and eligibility conditions are set by the department.
