Supply of School Uniform, Shoes Socks to all Students for Std IX to XII(SUPPLY OF UNIFORM, SHOES, SOCKS)
Overview
About SUPPLY OF UNIFORM, SHOES, SOCKS
Supply of School Uniform, Shoes Socks to all Students for Std IX to XII is the Education Department's in-kind scheme for the secondary classes of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. A student in Class 9, 10, 11 or 12 at a UT government school receives the clothing itself, shirt, pants or skirt, tie and belt, along with shoes and socks, and no cash changes hands (myScheme record).
Row 3 of an October 2017 corrigendum is where the kit became universal for these classes. Under the heading "Supply of Uniforms/Shoes and Socks", the Daman & Diu administration extended it to every Std IX to XII student in the district's government and government-aided schools (Directorate of Education corrigendum, 2017). An older department profile, with beneficiary figures running to 2007-08, shows the narrower versions it replaced: free uniforms and shoes for Scheduled Tribe students under the Tribal Sub Plan, and free uniforms for Scheduled Caste students, both only up to Std X (Education Department profile).
The 2017 order spoke of Daman & Diu alone. By the 2022-23 purchase, with the two territories merged, the kit was bought for all three districts together: in the Directorate's January 2022 uniform tender for the 2022-23 year, Dadra and Nagar Haveli accounted for 20,286 of the 26,592 pairs sought for Class 9 to 12 boys, Daman for 3,836 and Diu for 2,470, and the supplier's rate had to include transport to every school in the UT (January 2022 uniform tender).

Important dates
myScheme publishes no opening or closing date, since there is nothing to apply for (myScheme record). When the kit arrives depends on the Directorate's buying cycle, and its papers for the 2022-23 year show how far that cycle can slip (January 2022 uniform tender):
| Stage in the 2022-23 cycle | When |
|---|---|
| E-tenders for uniforms with tie and belt, and for shoes and socks | 31 January 2022 |
| Uniform work order, with 100 days to deliver to the schools | 21 March 2022 |
| Fresh e-tender for shoes and socks | 6 April 2022 |
| Shoes and socks work order | 23 July 2022 |
| Both work orders cancelled because the suppliers failed to supply | December 2022 |
| New bids on the Government e-Marketplace, allowing 120 days' delivery for uniforms and 90 for shoes and socks | 22 December 2022, closing 12 January 2023 |
For 2024-25 the shoes and socks terms gave the supplier 90 days from the work order and made an order running more than a month late liable to cancellation (2024-25 shoes and socks terms). No distribution date for the current year is published.
Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
The test is enrolment: a boy or girl in Class 9 to 12 at a government school of the UT, with no income ceiling, caste category, marks cut-off or domicile condition in the record (myScheme record). That single test is what changes at Class 9. For Std I to VIII the UT files uniforms under two listings, one for SC and ST boys together with all girls and one for the remaining boys (myScheme, Std I to VIII uniform for SC/ST boys and girls; myScheme, Std I to VIII uniform for other boys).
| The applicant should be a student. | |
| The applicant should be studying in class 9th to 12th. | |
| The applicant should be studying in a government school in UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. |

Exclusions
myScheme publishes no exclusion list, and the record's own boundary is the government school (myScheme record). The aided school is where the official papers pull apart. The 2017 corrigendum covered aided schools (Directorate of Education corrigendum, 2017), yet the current record names government schools only, and the Directorate's later shoes and socks terms are written for students of government schools and the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (2024-25 shoes and socks terms). The UT's School Education Rules, 2026 speak of a recognised private school "whether aided or not", which places aided schools on the private side of the line (School Education Rules, 2026). A student at an aided school should ask the head of school whether the kit comes before counting on it.
Continuation
Renewal conditions
The family renews nothing; the record asks for no resubmission (myScheme record). The Directorate buys for a named academic year instead. Its January 2022 uniform tender was for 2022-23 and required goods made in 2022, and its later GeM terms for shoes and socks were for 2024-25 (January 2022 uniform tender; 2024-25 shoes and socks terms). Neither the record nor those papers says whether a student who stays from Class 9 to Class 12 is issued a fresh set in each of the four years.
What you get
Award & benefits
The award is goods. myScheme lists the benefit type as In Kind, names the items and publishes no rupee value per student, and the scheme's FAQ there puts the uniform at two pairs per student (myScheme record). For footwear the Directorate's 2024-25 terms are explicit: the column headings of their school sheet read "9th to 12th x 1" for shoes and "9th to 12th x 2" for socks, one pair of shoes and two pairs of socks per student. At GHSS Silvassa (T), English medium, that came to 2,040 pairs of boys' shoes, 1,722 of girls' shoes and 7,524 pairs of socks (2024-25 shoes and socks terms). No official paper states how many ties or belts each student gets.
The quantities the Directorate put out to bid for Classes 9 to 12 are approximate requirements for one named year, not counts of students served, and the tenders count a uniform as a "pair", a shirt with its pant, skirt or frock:
| Item for Classes 9 to 12 | January 2022 e-tender (2022-23) | December 2022 GeM re-bid (2022-23) | GeM terms for 2024-25 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boys' uniforms, full pant and shirt (pairs) | 26,592 | 25,264 | Not covered |
| Girls' uniforms (pairs) | 26,240 | 24,984 | Not covered |
| Tie and belt, boys | 13,296 | 12,632 | Not covered |
| Tie and belt, girls | 13,120 | 12,492 | Not covered |
| Shoes, boys (pairs) | 13,296 | 12,692 | 12,763 |
| Shoes, girls (pairs) | 13,120 | 12,552 | 12,775 |
| Socks, boys and girls (pairs) | 52,832 | 50,488 | 51,076 |
Each column describes that purchasing round only. The 2022-23 uniform figures were put out to bid twice because the first supplier failed to supply, as the dates below show, and they are not the current year's order.
- Fosters a sense of identity, equality and discipline among students.
- Significantly reduces school absenteeism and improves performance by eliminating the financial barrier of purchasing clothes.
- Providing shoes and socks promotes better foot health and hygiene for students commuting to school.
- Promotes regular school attendance by supporting foundational needs

Documents required
None. The record lists no documents, and with nothing paid into an account there is no bank detail to link (myScheme record).
Step by step
How to apply
Nobody applies. The record lists the offline mode, no application link and no separate application (myScheme record); admission to, or promotion into, Class 9 to 12 at a government school is the only step on the family's side.
Tracking the Kit When There Is No Portal
The kit has no status page: families file nothing, so neither the National Scholarship Portal nor any UT site holds a record in a student's name. The supply trail can be followed instead. The Directorate's tender notices on the Dadra and Nagar Haveli district site show when a year's uniforms and footwear go out to bid, as the notice running from 22 December 2022 to 12 January 2023 did (Directorate of Education tender notice). The 2024-25 shoes and socks terms go a step further, listing every school by name and UDISE code with its Class 9 to 12 shoe and sock count, so a head of school can see whether the school's line was bought (2024-25 shoes and socks terms).
If a student has received nothing, ask the head of school first, since the goods are delivered there, and then the Directorate of Education, the office billed for Class 9 to 12 footwear under the 2024-25 terms (2024-25 shoes and socks terms). If a call to the school does not settle it, the UT portal's grievance form takes a written complaint (UT grievance form).

How winners are picked
Selection process
There is no merit list, draw or quota: the record extends the kit to all students in Classes 9 to 12 of government schools (myScheme record). The numbers are built school by school instead. In the 2024-25 shoes and socks terms, Diu's schools were down for 1,254 pairs of boys' shoes, 1,422 pairs of girls' shoes and 5,352 pairs of socks for these classes (2024-25 shoes and socks terms).
Fine print
Terms & conditions
No terms addressed to students are published for this scheme; the binding conditions sit in the supply contracts. The one a family is likely to meet is fit. Both 2022 tenders make the supplier answerable for the appropriate size of uniform, belt, tie, shoes and socks for each student, and refuse payment for any piece of the wrong size (uniform tender; shoes and socks tender). A wrong size is the supplier's fault, to be reported through the school to the Directorate.
