Government schools in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu do not all sit under the same examination board. The official record for Supply of Textbook to all Students for IX to XII says the books go to students of the CBSE Board and the Gujarat Board in Classes IX to XII of government schools, so two students in the same UT, in the same class, can be handed different titles. Everything else about the scheme is short: printed books, nothing asked of the family, and very little published by the UT administration beyond that single national record.

This is a handover inside a school building, not a credit to a household account. Which titles arrive is not the Directorate's call. Under the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu School Education Rules, 2026, the course of study and textbooks for Secondary (IX-X) and Higher Secondary (XI and XII) schools are those specified or recommended by the concerned Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (Official Gazette, Series I No. 03, Daman, 12th June, 2026). The scheme distributes what the affiliating board prescribes, so a government school on the Gujarat board and a government school on CBSE work from different book lists for the same class.

The administration itself publishes nothing about the scheme, and the two places it would sit are both empty. Its site search for textbook returns "No post found" (UT administration, site search), and its schemes directory, which lists central and UT programmes down to Samagra Shiksha and the mid-day meal, carries no textbook entry on either of its pages (UT administration, Schemes and Programmes). The national record is the only official statement of what the scheme covers, and this page adds no figure the administration has not published.

Neither an open date nor a close date appears on the record, which follows from there being no application to time. What a household is actually waiting on is the start of the academic session, and the administration publishes no dated commitment for the handover. If the session is under way and the books are not, that is a delivery question to put to the school; no claim here expires on a date.

Three conditions carry it, and the record adds no fourth: the person is a student, the class is 9th to 12th, and the school is a government school in this UT. No income ceiling, no category reservation, no marks bar, no attendance clause and no certificate of residence appear against it.

The class range covers the senior school without a break, which is worth spelling out, because Class XI is where a family expects school entitlements to stop. Here the same test is applied at Class XI as at Class IX, and it is also how the administration frames schooling generally: the 2026 Rules define the Secondary Stage as Grades 9 to 12 in two phases, 9 and 10 in the first and 11 and 12 in the second, covering ages 14 to 18 (DNH and DD School Education Rules, 2026). Those Rules are describing stages of schooling rather than this scheme's entitlement, but they show the boundary the class range follows.

The board a government school answers to changes which books are handed over. It does not change who qualifies for them.

The record carries a blank where an exclusion list would be, and the work is done instead by the third eligibility condition. Because the school has to be a government school in this UT, a private unaided school in Silvassa, Daman or Diu is outside the scheme on that clause alone, and no bar by income, community or previous marks appears anywhere in the record.

The government-aided school is the case the record genuinely leaves open. Other textbook schemes name that category explicitly, Delhi's covering government and aided schools in the same breath (myScheme, Free Supply of Text Books), while this UT's record names neither the aided school nor its exclusion. A family in one has nothing published to read on the point and has to put the question to the school and the Directorate rather than assume it either way.

A book set is issued for one class and used up in that class, and the scheme is written to match: the record sets out no continuation step at all, no certificate of promotion, no fresh sanction, no window to catch. The eligibility clause it does publish is written against the class a student is sitting in and the school they are sitting in, and a student who moves up inside a government school satisfies that clause again on the strength of the school's own register. A student who leaves for a private school stops satisfying it, in that year and without a decision being taken about them.

So there is no per-student cost on record, no count of students covered in a session and no list of titles, and none is invented here. The document that decides what is actually in the set is the affiliating board's prescribed list for that class, which the school can produce on request.

That deserves stating flatly, because the near-namesake in Madhya Pradesh does the opposite with the same benefit, the same classes and the same kind of school. Its record asks the student for a passport photograph, Aadhaar, a state domicile certificate, a caste certificate, a Samagra ID and bank account details (myScheme, Free Distribution of Text Books to Students). A family arriving here from a search that mixed the two will be assembling paperwork this scheme never asks for.

There is nothing to apply for. Offline is the only mode the record lists and no application URL is given against it, which in practice makes the class list the application and the school the place a missing set is raised.

That also settles the tracking question. Nothing was filed, so no acknowledgement number exists, there is no reference to quote and no status screen to refresh. The administration's citizen-services page for the Education Department bears this out from its own side: it links exactly one online education service, the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme, and no textbook service beside it (UT administration, Education Department services). Chasing a set that has not come runs through people rather than a portal, from the class teacher to the head of the school to the District Education Officer, whom the 2026 Rules define as an Education Officer in charge of a district (DNH and DD School Education Rules, 2026).

There is no selection to lose. Coverage is stated as all students in Classes IX to XII in government schools, which leaves a committee nothing to decide: no ranking, no interview, no category quota, no waiting list, and no test a student could fail once the eligibility clause is met.

The record carries no terms of its own. What governs the books instead is the 2026 Rules, in two places a parent may meet in practice. Textbooks other than those prepared by the State or NCERT Textbook Bureau have to be placed before the Advisory Board for approval, and the Administrator may, on scrutiny, prohibit the use of a book held to be prejudicial to the interest of education (Official Gazette, Series I No. 03, Daman, 12th June, 2026). Either provision can change what a class set contains between one session and the next, which is the practical reason an older sibling's books are not a safe substitute.

Where the school and the district officer have not resolved something, the administration takes complaints on a general web form rather than a scheme-specific one (UT administration, Grievances and Complaints). It asks for a name, an email, a subject and a message, so the school, the class and the academic year have to be written into the message itself. There is no application reference to quote in it.
