Overview

About SSEBBUP

The Subsidy Scheme on Establishment of 25 R.I.R. Bird's Unit / 40 R.I.R. Bird's Unit and Stipend for Poultry Farming Training is a state welfare scheme of the Government of Gujarat. It is offered by the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, the department under which the state's Directorate of Animal Husbandry runs poultry and livestock programmes. Under it a beneficiary sets up a small poultry unit stocked with R.I.R. (Rhode Island Red) birds, in a batch of either 25 or 40 birds.

Support comes in two parts. The department provides cash assistance towards establishing the poultry unit, and it pays a stipend that covers training in poultry farming, so that a new keeper is shown how to manage the birds before running the unit alone. The intent is to give a household a working source of income from poultry rather than a single one-time payment.

The scheme is meant for individuals rather than institutions. The department directs it towards residents of Gujarat from economically weaker sections, and towards Divyang (persons with disabilities) applicants, who want to take up poultry keeping as a livelihood. Full eligibility conditions and the assistance amounts are set by the department.
