Overview

About SMSUGGS

State Merit Scholarship to Under Graduate Girls Students is a cash scholarship run by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Haryana. It sits alongside the other scholarships the department administers through its Har-Chhatravratti portal, and it is aimed at girl students moving on to an undergraduate degree in the state.

The scheme rewards academic merit at the school-leaving stage. A limited number of the highest-scoring girls in each government college receive an annual cash award to help meet the cost of their undergraduate study. The department frames its scholarship programme as a way to support girls through higher education and to hold down the dropout rate.

It is meant for girl students admitted to undergraduate courses at government colleges in Haryana who did well in their 10+2 examination. Selection is competitive rather than open to every applicant, so a place turns on where a student's marks fall against her peers in the same college. Applications are made online through the Har-Chhatravratti scholarship portal.
