Overview

About PUBLICATION GRANT FOR MAINTENANCE & DEVELOPMENT

This is a central grants-in-aid scheme run by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), an autonomous body under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. ICSSR was set up in 1969 as the apex council for research in the social and human sciences, and it funds fellowships, research projects, seminars and academic institutions across the country.

Under this scheme, ICSSR gives cash grants to support the development of professional associations and organisations of social scientists, along with companies and trusts registered under the Companies Act. The intent is to strengthen the bodies that carry social science research and collaboration forward, rather than to fund a single researcher directly.

The support is meant for organisations working in the social sciences, subject to ICSSR's conditions and approval. Because it is a central scheme, eligible associations, companies and trusts across India can apply.
