Overview

About PUBLICATION GRANT

The Publication Grant/Subsidy scheme is run by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education's Department of Higher Education. It gives Indian scholars financial support towards publishing research work in the social sciences that might otherwise not find its way into print.

The support comes as a cash subsidy that offsets the cost of publishing a manuscript judged to be of high quality. It covers three kinds of work: a doctoral thesis, a report from an ICSSR research project or fellowship, and papers presented at seminars or conferences. The aim is dissemination, helping finished research reach a wider readership rather than sitting unpublished.

It is meant for social science researchers who are Indian nationals. Recent doctoral scholars, along with authors of research reports and seminar papers, can apply, and each manuscript is put through expert review before a grant is decided. The merit of the work is the deciding factor.
