Overview

About SISDRDOLEPT

The Scheme of Internship of Students to DRDO Labs/Estts for Project Training places selected graduate and postgraduate students into laboratories and establishments of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for a period of supervised project work. DRDO is the research and development wing of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, and it administers the scheme directly through its labs.

The purpose is to give students of engineering and the general sciences hands-on exposure to the R&D work DRDO carries out in areas relevant to the defence sector. The benefit is in kind rather than a cash award: an intern is attached to a lab that matches their discipline and works on a defined project under staff mentorship, in unclassified areas of the establishment.

It is meant for students at the graduate and postgraduate level in engineering and general sciences. Placements are offered against the training needs of individual labs, so admission depends on available vacancies and is decided at the discretion of the concerned lab director; students generally apply to the relevant DRDO lab through their college or institute. The precise eligibility conditions and application steps are listed on the scheme's official page.
