About RESEARCH JOURNAL GRANT
This is a grant-in-aid scheme run by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). ICSSR is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, established in 1969 as the apex council for research in the social and human sciences. Its mandate includes funding the publication of research journals and books and strengthening professional associations of social scientists.
The grant supports the publication and running of research journals in the social sciences. The benefit is a cash grant-in-aid paid to the body that brings out the journal, so that an established title can keep appearing rather than lapse for want of funds.
It is meant for professional associations and organisations of social scientists, along with universities, colleges and research institutes, that publish or run such journals. The award is tied to the journal and the publishing body, not to an individual reader or author, and eligibility and the amount are set by ICSSR.

Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
| Must be a university, college, research institute, or registered association. | |
| Journals must follow professional publishing standards (peer review, citations, etc.). | |
| In case it's a privately funded institution or association of social scientists, it should be registered under Societies of Registration Act, 1860. | |
| Must submit audited accounts and annual reports for the last three years. | |
| SC/ST category journals must focus on SC/ST-related research themes. | |
| Grant-in-Aid may be provided to journals being published in regional languages and translation thereof. |

- Journals without consistent periodicity.
What you get
Award & benefits
- Grant up to Rs. 5,00,000 per annum per journal.
- Up to Rs. 8,00,000 for multiple journals by a single organisation.
- Rs. 1,00,000 support for journals with commercial publishers (editorial cost only)with a ceiling of Rs. 2,00,000 if the organisation publishes more than one journal.
- Additional support for publishing back issues or special issues.
- Amount is disbursed in two instalments, first installment is 90% and second will be 10%, which will be released after submitting Audited Statement of Accounts and Utilisation Certificate
