Overview

About SFVPTPHDF

The Scheme for Fruit and Vegetable Preservation and Training Program in Horticulture Department, coded HRT-5, is a Gujarat state scheme under the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department. It is run through the state's Directorate of Horticulture, which operates canning and kitchen gardening centres across Gujarat's districts.

The scheme trains women in value addition and preservation of horticultural produce, along with kitchen gardening. The idea is to help households turn seasonal fruit and vegetables into preserved goods rather than sell or lose them fresh. Alongside the training, participants receive support and a daily stipend for the period they attend, which makes the benefit a composite of skills instruction and cash assistance.

It is meant for individuals and families in Gujarat, with women as the trainees. Eligibility and the stipend rate are set by the Horticulture Department, and the training is delivered at its canning centres, several of which are staffed by dedicated horticulture officers.
