Research Fellowship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe Candidates(RFSSTC)
Overview
About RFSSTC
The Research Fellowship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe Candidates is a state scheme run by the Tribal Area Development Department of the Government of Rajasthan. It gives cash support to Scheduled Tribe scholars from Rajasthan's Scheduled Areas and the Saharia area who want to pursue a Ph.D.
The support is meant to help these candidates register as research scholars with a recognised central, state, deemed or private university located anywhere in India. The benefit is paid in cash, as a research fellowship, so the cost of a doctoral programme is less of a barrier.
Eligibility is narrow. The scheme reaches Scheduled Tribe candidates from Rajasthan's Scheduled Areas and the Saharia belt, not Scheduled Tribe students across the country. The Saharia are a Scheduled Tribe concentrated in Baran district and are recognised as a particularly vulnerable tribal group, and Rajasthan's Scheduled Areas are notified under the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution.
