About PTTAA

Promotion of Tiatr Through Academic Activities pays for an event, not a student. The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) covers the running costs of a talk, symposium, seminar or workshop on tiatr, Goa's Konkani musical theatre, when an educational institution, a club, a chapel or an individual hosts it with the Academy. Participants get training and a participation certificate, not money: the only payment the rules mention is the honorarium TAG pays the resource persons who teach.

The scheme is number 6 in the Tiatr Academy of Goa's list of schemes, and the rules now posted on the Academy's own website title it "Promotion of Tiatr through Workshops" (Tiatr Academy of Goa, schemes index). Its stated purpose is to create interest in tiatr among students of educational institutions and among tiatr lovers in villages and cities. TAG can run an activity on its own or in collaboration with an institution or an individual, and the collaborator is who applies (scheme rules). TAG is one of the related organisations the Goa government's Directorate of Art and Culture lists.

TAG's annual reports of activities list four workshops under the scheme for April 2022 to March 2023 and six for April 2023 to March 2024. All ten met in three-hour sessions, most over eight to ten days. A resource person taught acting and direction at every one, most added a session on composing lyrics for tiatr songs, and each closed with participation certificates, usually after the participants staged short skits or plays.

Six of those ten workshops drew more than 30 participants, the ceiling now written into the rules on TAG's website, and the one at Barradi drew 76 (2022-23 report, scheme rules). TAG does not say when the ceiling was introduced.

The most recent report, for April 2024 to March 2025, lists a single activity under the scheme: an International Seminar on Tiatr that TAG organised with St. Xavier's College, Mapusa, at which speakers from several Goa colleges and Goa University presented research papers on tiatr (TAG Report of Activities, April 2024 to March 2025).

Neither version of the rules sets an application window or a closing date. Because requests are met first come, first served and only while funds last, apply well ahead of the date you have in mind. The workshops in the table above were spread across eight different months, from February to November, so no season is closed to the scheme.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

The applicant is the host. The rules name an institution or an individual as TAG's collaborator, and the hosts in TAG's reports include colleges, a vidyalaya, a sports and cultural club, a chapel and three individuals, all three of whom held theirs in a chapel or church hall. No age, income, caste or marks test applies to the host or to the people who attend. The group has to be at least 20 strong; the rules on TAG's website cap it at 30, while the citizen charter sets no upper limit (scheme rules, citizen charter). The subject has to be tiatr, its song or its music.

Every workshop and seminar TAG has reported under the scheme was held in Goa.

Who cannot apply

Exclusions

Neither version of the rules carries an exclusion list; an event is shut out by missing a condition. A group smaller than 20 does not qualify, and under the rules on TAG's website neither does one larger than 30. The speakers have to be cleared by TAG before they are finalised, and the refreshment cost approved before it is fixed, so a host who books either first has not followed the scheme's terms (scheme rules). A student looking for money for their own studies is outside the scheme altogether, since nothing is paid to participants.

Renewal conditions

Each talk, seminar or workshop is a separate application, and the rules neither cap repeat collaborations nor promise them. St. Xavier's College, Mapusa shows that a host can come back: it held a TAG workshop under the scheme in August and September 2023 (2023-24 report) and the scheme's International Seminar on Tiatr in 2024-25 (2024-25 report).

Award & benefits

The support is in kind, and no rupee value is published. TAG bears the cost of the resource persons, the refreshments and any other expense the collaborator incurs in organising the activity, and it pays for documenting the event. Resource persons get an honorarium fixed by TAG for every session, scaled to the distance from their home to the venue; the Academy has not published the rates (scheme rules). The rules do not say whether TAG pays suppliers itself or reimburses the host for what it spends.

Two official versions of the rules are online, and they differ on a few points. The citizen charter hosted on the Goa government portal matches the scheme text on myScheme, while the rules on TAG's own website are the ones the Academy now links from its schemes page. Rule 11 in both lets TAG change the rules.

If a lunch or dinner is part of your plan, settle with the Academy in writing which version it is applying before you book the caterer.

• Awareness Creation: Awareness about Tiatr, its song, and music will be created through academic activities such as talks, symposia, seminars, and workshops.
• Resource Person Honorarium: Resource persons will be paid an honorarium, as fixed by the Tiatr Academy of Goa, for every session, with the amount dependent upon the distance from their residence to the venue.
• Expenditure Coverage: The Tiatr Academy of Goa will cover the expenditure incurred on Resource Persons, refreshments, and food (lunch or dinner) served to participants. Additionally, any other miscellaneous expenditure made in organizing the activity by an institution or individual by way of collaboration will be taken care of by the Tiatr Academy of Goa.
• Provision of Materials: The Tiatr Academy of Goa will provide essential materials, including a backdrop, certificates for the participants, and stationery.
• Documentation Coverage: The Tiatr Academy of Goa will document the Symposia, Seminar, or Workshop, and the expenditure incurred on this documentation will be borne by the Tiatr Academy of Goa.
• _Prior approval will be required from the Tiatr Academy of Goa before finalizing the resource persons, if the activity is organized in collaboration with others._
• _The cost of refreshments or food to be served must be verified and approved by the Tiatr Academy of Goa before finalization._

What to prepare

Documents required

The paperwork is one form and one copy. The application form is the second page of the scheme rules on TAG's website, and it goes in with a self-attested copy of the applicant's Aadhaar card (scheme rules). The form asks for contact details, the Aadhaar number, the aspects of tiatr to be taught, the expected headcount and the time and place. There is no field for a bank account or PAN.

Step by step

How to apply

Applications are offline, on paper, to the Academy. The form is short, so most of the work is planning the event before you fill it in.

1. Download the scheme rules from TAG's schemes page and print the application form on page two.
2. Fill in your name, address, phone, email and Aadhaar number, then pick the aspects of tiatr the workshop should cover: acting, singing, script or lyrics writing, make-up, stage setting, background music, light effects or history of tiatr.
3. Enter the number of participants you expect, within the 20 to 30 range, and the proposed time and place (scheme rules).
4. Sign the two declarations, attach the self-attested Aadhaar copy and send the form to TAG at the Campal Trade Centre address given under Contact.
5. Before you confirm any speaker or caterer, get TAG's approval for the resource persons and have the refreshment cost vetted and approved.

No application number is issued and there is no portal to check. myScheme lists the scheme as offline and not a direct benefit transfer, and neither version of the rules says how or when TAG replies. The confirmations that matter are TAG's approval of your resource persons and of the refreshment budget, which the rules require before either is finalised, so ask the office for both by phone or email before the first session.

How winners are picked

Selection process

Applications are taken first come, first served, and only as far as the Academy's funds for the scheme stretch (scheme rules). The rules name no merit list, interview or selection committee for hosts. TAG's real say comes through approvals: it identifies the resource persons for its own events and must approve them for a collaborator's, and it signs off the refreshment budget. Beyond the headcount, the rules are silent on how participants are chosen.

Terms & conditions

The rules on TAG's website add three conditions that the charter text does not carry (scheme rules). TAG officials must be invited to the opening or closing ceremony as chief guest, guest of honour or special invitee. A senior tiatr artist should be invited as a guest for the opening and closing functions, along with the President and Vice President. The workshop itself has to include both theory and practical work. TAG documents the event at its own cost, and it reserves the right to change the rules.
