Overview

About NSFPGS

The National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies is a central government scheme administered by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the statutory body under the Ministry of Education that oversees higher education in India. It is listed on the government's myScheme portal and is delivered online through the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in.

Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to Indian students pursuing a postgraduate degree at a recognised university, college or institution within the country. The award runs for the two-year duration of a PG programme, and for integrated courses the support covers only the postgraduate stage.

The scheme is aimed at students enrolled in the first year of a regular, full-time postgraduate degree, subject to an upper age limit set by the UGC. Meeting the course and admission conditions does not on its own secure an award, because the annual number of scholarships is limited.
