Overview

About KPCY

The Khiladi Protsahan Chhatravriti Yojana is a state sports scholarship run by the Department of Sports, Government of Uttarakhand. It is also referred to as the Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, and the Uttarakhand government introduced it in 2022 to back talented young athletes from within the state.

The purpose is to keep promising sportspersons in training and competition by easing the cost of pursuing a sport. The benefit is a cash award: a monthly scholarship for selected players, paired with a once-a-year grant towards a sports kit and related equipment. Selected players are also given access to government sports facilities for their training.

The scheme is meant for young sportspersons who are permanent residents of Uttarakhand and who play notified disciplines, in the age band of 14 to 23 years. Selection is spread across the state, with players chosen from each of Uttarakhand's thirteen districts every year and the intake split evenly between boys and girls.
