Overview

About ISMOLE

The Internship Scheme of the Ministry of Labour & Employment places students as interns inside the Ministry, at the central level of the Government of India. The Ministry runs it directly, and each intern is attached to one of its divisions or wings.

The stated purpose is mutual benefit. An intern gets a close view of how a central ministry functions and how it handles department and policy questions, while the Ministry draws on the intern's work. The work is research and policy: empirical analysis, briefing notes and short policy papers prepared under the officer the intern is attached to.

Interns receive a monthly stipend for the internship period, along with working space, a computer with internet access, and a certificate on completion.

It is meant for students in relevant disciplines, and placement in a particular division is decided by the Ministry to match an intern's course and suitability.
