Overview

About JRFBIO

The DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) Programme is a research fellowship funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), a department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. DBT, set up in 1986, supports biotechnology research and training across the country, and this scheme sits within that mandate. It provides a cash fellowship to individuals taking up research in biotechnology and the life sciences.

The award is competitive. Candidates qualify by clearing the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET), conducted by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), which administers the programme and releases the fellowship payments to selected scholars.

This is a central scheme open across all states. The fellowship goes to the individual student, who holds it at an eligible host institution to pursue research in biotechnology or an allied life-science field.
