Overview

About ISPGRSDGTR

The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) is India's trade defence authority, working under the Department of Commerce in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It investigates unfair trade practices affecting Indian industry, running anti-dumping, countervailing duty and safeguard cases and defending Indian exporters in proceedings brought by other countries. This internship scheme is offered by DGTR itself.

The scheme gives postgraduate students and research scholars, particularly those from law and economics, a chance to see how trade remedial investigations and trade defence measures work. To be considered you need to be a PG student or research scholar at a recognised university or institute, and DGTR asks for a forwarding or permission letter from your supervisor or head of department with the application.

This is an in-kind opportunity rather than a paid one, so no stipend is provided. Each intern is assigned a DGTR officer as a mentor, who sets out a schedule suited to the intern's interests and skills, and a certificate is issued on successful completion. The internship runs for a minimum of one month, and applications are expected at least a month before the intended joining date.
