Internship Programme Of The Department Of Expenditure(IPDOP)
Overview
About IPDOP
The Internship Programme of the Department of Expenditure is a short-term internship run by the Department of Expenditure, one of the departments of the Union Ministry of Finance. It is a central-government programme, and the department is clear that it is meant as a learning exposure, not an offer of employment or a route to a government job.
The aim is to acquaint interns with how the government goes about formulating its economic policies. Selected interns work in person at the department's offices in North Block, New Delhi, for a period that runs from about two to six months. On satisfactory completion of the assignment and submission of the required report, interns receive a token remuneration and a certificate from the department.
The programme is aimed at students and early researchers with a background in economics, finance or management. Broadly, that covers post-graduate students and research scholars in these fields, and students in the senior years of a five-year integrated course, subject to the academic marks the department specifies. Places are limited, so meeting the eligibility conditions does not guarantee selection.
