Educational Assistance to Children of Women Headed Families(EACWHF-KERALA)
Overview
About EACWHF-KERALA
Educational Assistance to Children of Women Headed Families is a state scholarship run by the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, through its Directorate of Social Justice. It is meant for households that a woman heads, and it supports the schooling of children in those families.
The benefit is cash assistance paid every month, graded by the stage of the child's education, from the early years up to degree level. Applications are collected locally by Child Development Project Officers working through Anganwadi workers, and are forwarded to the District Social Justice Offices in each district for sanction.
The scheme is aimed at children of women-headed families, chiefly those below the poverty line. Some priority groups, such as children of persons affected by HIV or AIDS and other socially disadvantaged families, are treated as eligible regardless of their poverty-line status. Detailed conditions and the exact amount payable at each stage are set out in the eligibility and benefits sections above.
