Overview

About DSNS

The Dr. Shivanand Nautiyal Scholarship is a state merit scholarship run by the Secondary Education Department under Uttarakhand's Department of Education. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttarakhand conducts the qualifying examination, held each January, and selects awardees by rank.

Students apply in Class 8 while enrolled in a government, local-body or government-aided school in Uttarakhand, with central and residential schools excluded, and must have cleared Class 7 with at least 50% marks (40% for reserved categories). Parental income is not a bar. From the top 100 candidates in the examination, 50 from the Garhwal Division and 50 from the Kumaon Division are selected.

Each selected student receives ₹1,500 per month for 10 months in the year, paid into their Aadhaar-linked bank account, and the award runs from Class 9 through Class 12.
