Overview

About BBSII

Book Bank Scheme: II is a textbook-support scheme run by the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It supplies course books to Adi Dravidar and tribal students enrolled in professional and postgraduate programmes, so that the cost of expensive prescribed texts does not fall on the student's family.

The benefit is given in kind rather than as cash. The department buys the books and holds them in a book bank or library, and a student draws the set the course needs. Because the books are lent and not gifted, the student returns them once the course is complete, so the same set can pass to the next batch.

The scheme is meant for Adi Dravidar and Scheduled Tribe students in Tamil Nadu who are studying professional courses. The department lists degree and postgraduate streams that include medicine, engineering, veterinary science, agriculture, polytechnic diplomas, law, and MBA among the courses it covers.
