Overview

About AP-MSSCSSVIXSGSGRPSUTP

The Award of Pre-matric Scholarship to Scheduled Caste Students is a cash scholarship for children from Scheduled Caste families in the Union Territory of Puducherry. It is run by the Adi Dravidar Welfare and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department of the Government of Puducherry.

The scheme is aimed at students studying from class VI to class X in government schools and in government-recognised private schools across the Union Territory. Its stated purpose is to help Scheduled Caste students stay in school through the secondary level and to reduce dropout at this stage.

The benefit is a fixed annual scholarship, set at different rates for the middle and secondary classes. Eligibility is tied to residence in Puducherry and to a ceiling on the parent's or guardian's annual income, so the award is meant for families the department treats as needing support rather than every Scheduled Caste student.
