Overview

About APMSOEBCS

The Award of Pre-Matric Scholarship to Other Economically Backward Class (OEBC) Students is a state scholarship run by the School Education Department, Government of Puducherry. It supports school students from the OEBC category who are studying at the pre-matric stage, from class six to class ten, in the union territory of Puducherry.

The purpose is to keep these students in school. Families with limited means often stop paying for education before a child finishes secondary school, and the scholarship is meant to ease that pressure and reduce dropouts. It is a cash benefit, granted for the academic year and paid directly into the student's bank account.

Support is directed at OEBC students who are residents of Puducherry and enrolled in a government or government-aided school in the union territory. Eligibility is linked to family income and to the student securing promotion to the next class, so the award is applied for afresh or renewed as a child moves up through classes six to ten.
