Overview

About ASST

Ashram Schools (Scheduled Tribes) is a welfare scheme of the Madhya Pradesh government, launched in 1966. It runs a network of residential ashrams and hostels for Scheduled Tribe students across the state.

Students admitted to an ashram or hostel under the scheme are given free accommodation, mess and education. Because the support is provided directly in these facilities, the benefit is recorded as in-kind rather than a cash payment to the family.

It is meant for Scheduled Tribe students who belong to Madhya Pradesh and study within the state, and it is open to both girls and boys. Applications are handled online through the state's MPTAAS portal.
