AICTE - Distinguished Chair Professor Fellowship(DCPF)
Overview
About DCPF
The AICTE-Distinguished Chair Professor Fellowship is run by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body under the Ministry of Education. It brings retired senior professionals into AICTE-approved institutes to interact with their students and faculty.
Its stated aim is to draw on the expertise of highly qualified, experienced superannuated professionals who have made an exceptional contribution in their field, and to have them motivate and guide students and teaching staff. AICTE arranges host institutions in states across the country, so the visits are not limited to one region.
The benefit is composite. A fellow receives an honorarium for each full day of interaction with faculty and students, along with reimbursement of actual travel costs, and sessions may be held in person or online. A fellowship runs for three years, or until the awardee turns 75, and can be extended to the age of 80 subject to fitness.
This is a recognition for the professionals themselves, not an award that students apply for. Candidates enter by nomination only and are expected to be acknowledged experts who stayed active in research and development. Nominations can be sent to AICTE's Faculty Development Cell through the year.
