Overview

About VT-PUDU

The Vocational Training component is part of the Development of Industries scheme run by the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Puducherry. Day to day it is administered by the District Industries Centre (DIC), the department's field agency for training and small-enterprise support in the Union Territory.

The training is institution-oriented and runs for about six months, with a monthly stipend paid to trainees. It covers trades such as tailoring and embroidery, beauty parlour work, and arts and design. The aim is to give unemployed youth a practical skill they can use to find work in these trades or to start a small venture of their own.

It is meant for educated unemployed youth of Puducherry, with a particular focus on women who want to build a career in a trade or set up their own small enterprise.
