Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme(VCIS)
Overview
About VCIS
The Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme (VCIS) is an internship programme run by the University of Delhi. Its Dean of Students' Welfare office administers it under the direction of the Vice Chancellor, placing the university's own students in administrative and academic offices across the institution. Interns take on supervised work alongside their regular studies.
The scheme is meant to build administrative, organisational and professional skills by showing students how a large public university runs from the inside. Postings include the Vice Chancellor's and Deans' offices, the examination branch, the School of Open Learning and the Equal Opportunity Cell. It runs in two forms: a part-time internship during the academic session and a fuller summer internship over the vacation.
VCIS is open to regular, bonafide full-time students of the University of Delhi, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and a student may take it up only once during their course. Interns who complete a posting receive a monthly stipend and a certificate from the Dean of Students' Welfare, subject to a satisfactory appraisal from the department they worked in. The benefit is composite: paid experience and formal recognition rather than a one-time cash award.
