About VAANI
VAANI, short for Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages, is a central scheme run by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body under the Department of Higher Education. It funds academic events such as conferences, seminars and workshops that are held in Indian languages, so that technical knowledge reaches students and faculty in their mother tongue.
The aim is to narrow the language gap in higher and technical education. AICTE backs these programmes across the 22 scheduled Indian languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, with sessions built around emerging technical fields. An institution receives a cash grant for each approved programme.
Applications come from AICTE-approved institutions, which organise the events; the faculty and students at those institutions are the intended beneficiaries.

Eligibility criteria
| The applicant must be an AICTE-approved institute, including institutions offering Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Computer Applications programs. | |
| The applicant must identify a co-coordinator who must be a faculty member with at least seven years of experience in teaching and research. | |
| The applicant must ensure the academic background of the coordinator, co-coordinator, resource persons, and paper presenters is in conformity with the theme of the proposed event. | |
| The applicant must ensure participants are strictly faculty members of approved institutions, research scholars, Master of Technology scholars, research fellows, or working professionals from the industry. | |
| The applicant must ensure the event is conducted in one of the twenty-two specified Indian languages, such as Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, or Urdu. | |

What you get
Award & benefits
- The scheme provides financial assistance up to a maximum of ₹2,00,000/- per programme.
- The honorarium for experts is a maximum of ₹5,000/- per expert and per session.
- Financial assistance shall be reimbursed against actual expenses after the successful completion of the conference, seminar, or workshop and the submission of requisite documents.
- An advance of 50% of the sanctioned amount will be released only to the Government Institutions.
- Terms and Conditions
- The approved conference, seminar, or workshop must be conducted within six months.
- A minimum of one-third of the resource persons must be from an industry background.
- One expert can give a maximum of two lectures for the conference, seminar, or workshop.
- The coordinator must maintain a webpage for the event on the website of the institute.
- The institution must post the link to the funding schemes of the All India Council for Technical Education on its website and the event webpage.
- Any change in the programme schedule, coordinator, or venue requires prior approval from the council, failing which the grant offer is automatically withdrawn.
- Funds sanctioned for a particular event cannot be utilized for any other programme or conference.
- If the event is cancelled, it must be reported immediately, and the grantee must refund the entire amount with a 10% simple interest.
- Any unutilized amount must be refunded to the All India Council for Technical Education through Real-Time Gross Settlement or National Electronic Funds Transfer only.
- The logo of the All India Council for Technical Education must be prominently displayed on all online and offline information, stage backdrops, podiums, and publicity materials, which must be in an Indian language.

VAANI – FAQ
The designated co-coordinator must be a faculty member possessing a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in both teaching and research activities.
The applying institution must be officially approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, which explicitly includes establishments offering Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Computer Applications programs.
The coordinator must be a full-time regular faculty member, preferably an Associate Professor, Professor, or senior faculty, with at least 10 years of experience in teaching and research, including published works.
Participants must be exclusively limited to faculty members from approved institutions, research scholars, Master of Technology scholars, research fellows, or working professionals actively employed in the industry.
An institution is restricted to receiving the financial grant for conducting an approved conference, seminar, or workshop only 1 time per year.
Preference is granted to institutions that have a minimum of 50% of their eligible courses accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, with the validity extending until the 30th of April 2026.
Your institution will receive preference during the selection process if it has successfully maintained more than 80% student admission consecutively for the last 5 academic years.
To be eligible for the primary coordinator role, the selected faculty member must have a proven track record of having successfully organized at least 1 seminar in the past.
Institutions seeking preference must possess a valid National Assessment and Accreditation Council score of 3.01 and above on a maximum scale of 4.0.
During the evaluation of the proposal, the designated coordinator will be assessed on their proficiency and firm hold on the specific regional language in which they have expressed interest.
Preference is given to establishments that have been officially conferred Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission or granted autonomy by the All India Council for Technical Education.
Institutions with industry collaborations receive preference, provided the proposed event topics specifically fall under the domains where the institution has established active collaborative ties with the industry.
The applications must be formally submitted by the applying educational institutes exclusively through their officially selected and designated faculty coordinator.
Your application will be given preference if your institution has figured in the National Institutional Ranking Framework ranking for 2024 or the Quacquarelli Symonds World Ranking Asia for 2025.
