Pradhan Mantri Virasat ka Samvardhan(PM VIKAS)
Overview
About PM VIKAS
PM VIKAS is the working name for Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan, a scheme run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. It folds several of the ministry's earlier programmes, including Seekho aur Kamao, USTTAD, Hamari Dharohar, Nai Roshni and Nai Manzil, into one framework for skilling, education and empowerment.
The support is organised around a few strands rather than a single payout. Traditional skilling trains artisans in heritage arts and crafts; non-traditional skilling covers job roles aligned to industry; a leadership and entrepreneurship component works with women from minority communities; and a bridge education component helps school dropouts return to study through open schooling. Because these strands sit under one scheme, the benefit is composite, spanning training, education and enterprise support.
It is meant for members of India's notified minority communities, and for artisan families within them. Delivery runs through art and craft clusters, with the Ministry of Minority Affairs as the nodal body. Eligibility for any one component follows the conditions set for that component, so the group each strand serves is narrower than the scheme as a whole.
