Overview

About PMSFSSD

The Post Matric Scholarship for SC students is a centrally sponsored scheme of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It supports Scheduled Caste students at the post-matriculation stage, that is studies from Class 11 upward through higher education, with the stated aim of raising the gross enrolment ratio of SC students beyond school.

The scheme is funded centrally but delivered by the states and union territories. In Delhi the nodal body is the Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC, Government of NCT of Delhi, which invites applications, verifies them through schools and colleges, and releases the award. The benefit is paid in cash, combining reimbursement of prescribed course fees with a maintenance allowance for the duration of the course.

It is meant for SC students who are enrolled in a recognised post-matriculation course and whose family income stays within the ceiling set for the scheme. Selection and the applicable rates are decided under the scheme guidelines and administered by the Delhi department, so eligibility is confirmed at the state level rather than centrally.
