PM-YASASVI: Top Class School Education for OBC, EBC and DNT Students(PM-YASASVI:TCSEOBCEBCDNTS)
Overview
About PM-YASASVI:TCSEOBCEBCDNTS
Top Class School Education for OBC, EBC and DNT Students is one part of PM-YASASVI, the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, runs it within that wider umbrella of scholarships for backward-class students.
The component is meant for meritorious students from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC) and De-notified Tribes (DNT). It funds their schooling from Class 9 through Class 12 at selected top-class schools, so that a place at a good school does not turn on a family's ability to pay. The benefit is composite, covering the education costs attached to that place rather than a single lump-sum award.
Selection is competitive and merit-based. Candidates are shortlisted through the YASASVI Entrance Test (YET), a national test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Beyond clearing the test, eligibility turns on category, family income and academic record, with the exact limits fixed by the department for each cycle.
