PM-YASASVI: Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC and DNT Students(PMYASASVI:PMSOBCEBCDNTS)
Overview
About PMYASASVI:PMSOBCEBCDNTS
The Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC and DNT students is one component of PM-YASASVI, the central government's PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India for OBCs and Others. It is administered by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
It is meant for school students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT) at the pre-matric, or secondary, stage of schooling. The stated purpose is the welfare and motivation of children from these categories, using financial assistance to keep them in school through the years before matriculation.
The benefit is paid as a cash scholarship, and applications for the OBC pre-matric award are made through the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). Whether a particular student qualifies turns on the category and income conditions the government sets, so eligibility is worth checking against the official criteria for the current year.
