Long Term Fellowship under the Human Resource Development Programme for Health Research(LTFHRDPHR)
Overview
About LTFHRDPHR
The Long Term Fellowship under the Human Resource Development Programme for Health Research is a central government fellowship run by the Department of Health Research, a department within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It funds advanced training in India and abroad for people already working in medical and health research.
The purpose is to build research capacity in cutting-edge areas of medicine and health. Selected fellows receive a cash benefit that supports extended training in these fields, rather than funding for a first degree. The fellowship is awarded to individuals and is open to applicants from across the country.
It is aimed at medical and health research personnel, so it assumes an existing background in medicine or health science and is not a general student scholarship. The Department of Health Research is the same arm of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that oversees the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country's apex biomedical research body, which traces its origins to 1911.
