Overview

About HOAPSSA

The Hari Om Ashram Prerit Senior Scientist Award is a national science honour administered by the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), a unit of the Department of Space, Government of India. PRL instituted it to commemorate the birth centenary of Pujya Shri Mota, founder of the Hari Om Ashram at Nadiad, Gujarat, and it goes to an eminent Indian scientist for innovative and outstanding contributions in science and technology.

The honour carries a silver plaque, a citation, and a cash prize of INR 4,00,000. It is one of two Hari Om Ashram Prerit awards PRL administers, the other being the Vikram Sarabhai Research Award, and its recorded recipients run from 1998 to 2018.

This is a recognition for accomplished researchers, not an application-based scholarship you apply to as a student. Nominations go to the Director, PRL, and are put forward by heads of academic and research institutions, vice-chancellors, university deans, fellows of the Indian science and engineering academies, and past recipients.
