Hari Om Ashram Prerit Doctor Vikram Sarabhai Research Award(HOAPDVSRA)
Overview
About HOAPDVSRA
The Hari Om Ashram Prerit Dr Vikram Sarabhai Research Award is a national research honour administered by the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad, a unit of the Department of Space. It was set up with funds donated by Pujya Shri Mota of Hari Om Ashram in Nadiad, Gujarat, and is named after Vikram Sarabhai, the physicist who founded PRL. Awardees have been named since 1974, and the award is given in alternate years.
This is a recognition award for practising scientists rather than a student scholarship. It honours Indian researchers for original work across four areas: space sciences; space applications; electronics, informatics, telematics and automation; and systems analysis or management. A recipient receives a cash prize and a medal, and is invited to present the work that earned the award.
The award is aimed at younger Indian scientists, with nominations sought for researchers below 45 years of age. Selection is by nomination rather than open application, so it is relevant to early- and mid-career researchers in space and allied sciences who are put forward for their published contributions.
