Free Supply of Text Books(FSOTB)
Overview
About FSOTB
Free Supply of Text Books is a school-education scheme run by the Department of Education, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It sets out to keep the cost of textbooks and basic writing material out of a family's school expenses, so that students in the capital's government and government-aided schools are not held back by what a book set costs.
The benefit takes one of two forms. A student either receives the textbooks themselves, distributed through the school, or a cash subsidy in lieu of them paid into the student's or parent's bank account. That subsidy ranges from ₹550 to ₹830 a year depending on the class and counts towards writing material as well, and Classes 8, 9 and 10, along with senior students who take Mathematics, also get ₹30 towards a geometry box.
Eligibility follows enrolment. Any student from the nursery level up to Class 12 in a Delhi government or government-aided school qualifies, irrespective of income or gender; students in private unaided schools do not. There is no separate application to file, as the school compiles the list of eligible students and puts in the claim on their behalf.
