Overview

About COPVF

Conducting Outreach Programmes in Various Fields is a state science-awareness scheme for Uttarakhand, listed under the Department of Information Technology, Good Governance and Science & Technology of the Government of Uttarakhand. Its stated aim is to promote scientific awareness among students, teachers, and the general public by running outreach programmes and activities across various fields of science, in both online and offline modes, so that science education and research reach more people across the state.

The support is in kind rather than a cash grant, which fits the nature of the scheme: it funds and conducts outreach activity rather than paying an individual. In practice the state carries out this kind of science-popularisation work through UCOST, the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology. UCOST is an autonomous body under the same department, registered under the Societies Registration Act in November 2002, and it runs science exhibitions, workshops, and training for students, researchers, and the public alongside the Regional Science Centre at Dehradun.

The scheme is aimed at individuals in Uttarakhand who take part in these activities, whether school and college students, teachers, or the wider public. It is a participation-and-access scheme rather than a financial award, so what a beneficiary gains is the programme itself: exposure to science through the events, sessions, and outreach the state conducts.
