Overview
About BFA
The Buti Foundation Award recognises innovative and outstanding research in Plasma Science and Technology. It was instituted in 2007 from an endowment fund provided by the Buti Foundation, New Delhi, and is given once every two years to a single researcher for work carried out in India.
The award is catalogued on the national myScheme portal at the central level and is administered through the Physical Research Laboratory. The recognition is composite: a medal together with a cash prize. It honours a completed body of research rather than paying out over a course of study.
The award is meant for an accomplished scientist or engineer under the age of 45 who has done significant work in plasma science and technology in India. It is nomination-based, not an open application: names are put forward by heads of academic and research institutions, vice-chancellors and deans of universities, fellows of the Indian science and engineering academies, and past recipients. A student cannot apply directly.
