Overview

About AI

The Artificial Intelligence scheme is a state programme in Uttarakhand run by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), which works under the state's Department of Science and Technology. Through it, UCOST and its Regional Science Centre in Dehradun have set up an Artificial Intelligence Lab in collaboration with Intel under the AI for Youth programme.

The aim is to build awareness, understanding and practical learning of artificial intelligence among school students. Rather than a cash grant, the benefit comes in kind: places at AI coding camps, demonstrations and hands-on experiments, along with access to the lab's resources. The Dehradun lab's training has covered the fundamentals of Python programming, data science and the AI project cycle across areas such as computer vision and natural language processing.

The scheme is aimed at school students in classes 9 to 12 in Uttarakhand who want early, structured exposure to how AI works. Participation runs through schools, which register their students for the AI camps and demonstration sessions.
