RMEWF-Financial Assistance For Vocational Training Of Widows Of ESM(RMEWF-FAVTWESM)
Overview
About RMEWF-FAVTWESM
The RMEWF financial assistance for vocational training of widows of ESM is a central welfare scheme drawn from the Raksha Mantri Ex-Servicemen Welfare Fund. It is run by the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) Secretariat, which works under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare in the Ministry of Defence.
The aim is to help the widow of an ex-serviceman support herself and settle in life through a vocational skill. A widow who completes a recognised vocational course receives a one-time cash grant, paid after the training is finished rather than in advance. The course can be taken at an institution run by the Rajya or Zila Sainik Boards, at a state Industrial Training Institute (ITI), or at a reputed private institute.
The assistance is meant for widows of ex-servicemen up to the rank of Havildar or its equivalent in the Army, Navy or Air Force. An application is made through the Zila Sainik Board and moves up with the recommendation of both the Zila and Rajya Sainik Boards to the KSB Secretariat, which sanctions and disburses the grant.
