Overview

About PROWIS-I

The Indo-French Postdoctoral Research Programme for Women in Science, known as PROWIS-I, is a bilateral mobility scheme run through the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA). CEFIPRA is funded jointly by India's Department of Science and Technology (DST), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and it administers the programme on both sides.

The aim is to give women scientists in India and France a way to work with scientific communities across the two countries and to pursue advanced study and research in frontier areas of science and technology. The support is composite: it funds a short collaborative research stay of three to four months in the partner country, covering a monthly fellowship, miscellaneous allowances, and to and fro international travel between India and France.

On the Indian side, PROWIS-I is meant for women scientists who hold a PhD and a sanctioned or tenured post at a scientific or academic institution and who want to carry out a collaborative project at a French institution or university. Applications are submitted online through CEFIPRA.
